He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl A. Butsch and Ruth Butsch (Heffner); his wife Phyllis E. Sullenberger; his son Richard Scott Butsch; and his sister Dorothy Kiefer.
He is survived by: his sons, Michael Butsch (Janet) of Piqua and William Butsch of Piqua; and his grandsons, Steve Butsch (Julie) and Bryan Butsch (Jennifer). He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
