He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Bateman and Edith Bateman (Womsley); and his daughter-in-law Pamela Bateman. He is survived by: his wife DiAnn J. Harris; and his sons, Roger Bateman of Piqua, Ralph Bateman (Jeri) of Piqua and Robert Bateman (Marta) of Sidney. He is also survived by five grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
