Howard L. Schafer Obituary

He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Herman and Freida Eliza Schafer (Sell); his former wife Helen Louise Schafer (Ruhlig); his wife Joan Schafer (Schaffner); his sons, Neal and Rodney Schafer; his grandsons, Neal Jr. and Brett Sellers; his siblings, Blanche Schafer, Myrtle Schafer, Ralph, Paul and Roy Schafer; and his siblings-in-law, Jerry Schultz, Barbara Schafer and Madeline Schafer (Lang).

He is survived by: his children, Carolyn Haverfield (Forrest) of Maplewood, Roger Schafer of Bryan, Diane Rhonemus (Neil) of Lynchburg, Leslie Schafer (Janet) of Montpelier, Beverly Schafer of Montpelier, Nelson Schafer (Michele) of Montpelier, Amy Sellers (Craig Gendron) of Montpelier, Linda Spathelf of Des Moines, Tanya Garay (Roberto) and Bridget Rambo (Erik); and his siblings, Melvin Schafer of Milford, Joyce Schultz of Clinton, Ilene Schroeder (Ed) of Fenton, Joel Schafer (Joyce) of New Palastine and Sally Schafer of Tecumseh, Michigan.. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. James Lutheran Preschool or the St. James Lutheran Church Building Fund.
