He was predeceased by: his parents, Brian Ellis and Garnet Irene Clay Smith; his wife Sara Frances Tolliver Smith; and his son John Allen Smith. He is survived by: his children, Donald Eugene Smith, Thomas Ellis Smith (Brenda), Perry Douglas Smith, Joyce Ann Tackett (Eugene) and Carolyn Diane Tackett; and his sister Darlene Frederick. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
