He was predeceased by: his father Frank Schackart; his children, Davd Lee Schackart Jr. and Debra K. Schackart; and his siblings, Frank "Hank" Schackart, Raymond "Bud" Schackart, James Shaffer, Doris Cunningham, Eva Speck and Frances Matthews.

He is survived by: his children, Ralph Schackart, Patty Blevins and Cindy Monroe. He is also survived by 38 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
