He was predeceased by: his parents, Basil Hyre and Bernice Patterson Hyre Liszeski; and his son Scott Hyre. He is survived by: his stepfather Leo Liszeski; his wife Roberta "Bobbie" Hoopingarner Hyre; and his children, Joseph D. Hyre (Rita), Thomas W. Cameron (Patricia), Mark E. Cameron (Jammie), Julie L. Taylor (Bud) and Jackie Renee Hyre.
