He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Jane Murray and Wesley Murray; and his brothers, Dick and Don Howard. He is survived by: his brothers, Dave Murray (Rachel) and Tim Murray (Gina); his children, Tamara Ortega, Kristen "Peanut" Burris (Kelly) and Chaz Murray; his granddaughters, Alexis Ortega, Aimee Ortega, Madison Burris and Miranda Burris; his great grandchildren, Mila Myers and Brixton (Pablo); his niece Kimberly Carpenter (Ryan); his nephews, Brian Murray and Jeff Murray (Keisha); his great-nephews, Charlie Carpenter, Phoenix and Eason Murray; and his close friend Terri Murray.
