He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Becky Koehler Cole and Larry Cole; his wife Heather Patterson Cole; his children, Lane, Sophie, Jimmy Layton and Tairan Layton (Kolton Talbott); his sisters, Michele Egloff (Keith), Corkey Unewitz and Carleen Haak; his nieces and nephews, Kenzie, Lizzy, Brenlee, Quincie, Cade, Andrew and Ava; his aunt Vicki Gussler; his uncle Jeff Koehler; his great-aunt Creta Moore; his father-in-law Jimmy Patterson (Teira); his siblings-in-law, Justin Patterson (Heather Jo) and Heidi Patterson (Kevin Wilkerson); his grandparents, Joe and Loretta Roberts; his uncles, Todd, Jamie, Mike Wood (Melissa), Jake Hina (Taisha) and Luke Steed; his grandparents, Bud, Betty Koehler and Brenda Hunter; his sister Deena Procacci; and his close friend Eric Abella.
