He was predeceased by: his half-sister Louise Talaga; his siblings-in-law, Leon, Richard, James Milligan, David Minich and Wanda Milligan; and his nephew Greg McKinley.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Merchant; his sons, Mike Merchant and Mark Merchant; his grandson Robert Merchant; his brother James Merchant; and his siblings-in-law, Marilyn Minich and Ronald Milligan (Ida). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
