Robert J. Farley Obituary
Robert “Bob” Farley passed away on October 16, 2023, at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born to John and Mary Ellen (Nichter) Farley on January 15, 1961, in Toledo, Ohio. He was a graduate of the class of 1979 at Perrysburg High School and Penta County where he learned to become an automotive mechanic. Bob went on to work as a bus mechanic for the Anthony Wayne School District for several years.
Bob loved to talk to anyone and everyone. From daily phone conversations with Sid, to chatting with complete strangers, Bob had the gift of gab. He had a way of making people laugh at just the right time and shared his dad jokes with those who would listen.
In 1992 he married his wife Kelly with whom he shared 30 wonderful years with. Together they fostered 15 children and became a forever family home for five. He was always looking for a project, a new business adventure or to lend a helping hand to someone in need. He was also a fierce advocate for those that did not have a voice.
Helping others was woven into Bob’s identity. On snowy days he would clear his 800ft driveway for Kelly and the kids to make it to school and work, then disappear to help the neighbors. He enjoyed maintaining his yard, playing cards, fishing at the lake, and his love of decorating for Christmas was contagious. Often recruiting the help of his children, he would spend hours preparing, untangling lights, and planning the layout of his extravagant Christmas display.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kelly; children, Lindsey, Jessica (Patrick), Andrew, Summer, Jameson, Sebastian, Luke, Danny; grandchildren, Avery, Sophie, Nora, Jack, Roselia; siblings, John (Alice), Linda (Allan), Tom (Beth), Barb (Jim); and many other friends and family members.
He was preceded by his parents, and son, Deonte.
A time of visiting will be held at the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home (222 E. South Boundary St.) on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, from 3 pm – 6 pm, with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 6 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a contribution in Bob’s honor to Life Connections of Ohio as he was fortunate to be an organ recipient.
