He was predeceased by: his parents, John Joseph and Mary M. Howard (Amos); his wife Patricia Howard; and his siblings, Eileen Howard Stobinski (Walt), Edward Howard, John Howard (Virginia) and Betty Howard Geoffrion.
He is survived by: his children, Kathryn Howard Chlebowski (Stanley) and Richard Howard (Jane); his grandchildren, Andera (Brian), Bryan (Heather), Mike (Kara), J. J. (Natalie) and Samantha (Bradle); and his brother Matthew Howard (Victoria). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in James' name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
