He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Thornton and Frances Thornton (Bradshaw); and his siblings, Doris Incledon and Roger Boyd. He is survived by: his wife Jeanette K. Schwan; his sons, Todd Thornton (Jill) and Steve Thornton; and his grandchildren, Kevin Thornton, Erica Gierhart (Andy), Emily Brogan and Ben Thornton.

Memorial contributions may be made in Harold's name to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg.
