He is survived by: his spouse Nora Pate; his children, Michael Root (Robin), Karen Harris of Perrysburg, OH and Lynn Smith (Jeffery) of Perrysburg, OH; his grandchildren, Christopher Neff, Brent Neff (Rachel), Chad Neff, Sarah Schulte, Amanda VanNess (Drew) and Samantha Smith (Peter DiBlasi); his great grandchildren, Haley, Michael, Madelyn, Makaylin, Breann, Addisyn and Jackson; his great great grandchild Lucas; and his brother Paul Root of Cincinnati, OH..
