He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Witzler and Frieda Witzler (Johnson); and his brother Fred Witzler. He is survived by: his wife Karen Witzler; his children, Robert D. Witzler (Yvonne), LeAnn M. Witzler, William J. Witzler (Cindy) and Sara L. Witzler-Cooper (Dan); his grandchildren, Lauren, Kirstie, Cameron, Jacquelyn, Faith, Joseph, Nikolaus, Cordelia, Delaney, Bridget and Chase; his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Weston, Rowan and Quinn; and his sisters, Carol Williams (Steve) and Julie Hudson.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Don's name may be made to Isaac R. Ludwig Historical Mill.
