He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Kurfess and Margaret Kurfess (Zingg); his siblings, Dr. Nancy Johnson and James; and his great grandchild Libbe Rose.
He is survived by: his wife Helyn Rudolph of John's Lutheran Church; his children, Todd Kurfess (Cheryl), Ann Hale (Warren) and Laura Hertzfeld (Richard); his grandchildren, Lucas Hale (Melissa), Kraig Hale (Brooke), Grant Hale (Cara), Eleanor Hertzfeld and Amy Brown (Riley); and his great grandchildren, Sophie, Peyton, Archer, Ridge, June, Knox, Charlie, Oaklynn and Wyatt.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to: St. John's Lutheran Church, Hospice of NW Ohio, or Bowling Green State University Foundation, Charles, and Helyn Kurfess Scholarship-Arts & Sciences.
