He was predeceased by: his parents, John Richey and JoAnne Richey; and his brother John Richey. He is survived by: his children, Shannon Richey, Casey Richey, Kelly Richey and Mackenzie Richey; his sisters, Jill Rohan (Mike), Jeannie Irwin (Don), Mary Catherine Wells and Joni Bash (Ted); and his close friend Nadine Hayes. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
