He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton and Katherina; his wife Betty Lynne; and his brother-in-law Peter Burkholder. He is survived by: his children, Tina Sherry (David) and Douglas Schlauch (Linda); his grandchildren, Jeremiah Sherry (Marlow) and Toni Marie Mathis (Elvin); his great grandchild Brandon Agnew; and his siblings, George Schlauch (Mildred) and Helen Burkholder.
