He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Ward Venis and Alma Mae Venis (Phillips); and his siblings, David Venis and Donna Tolmie. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Venis (Wight); his children, James Venis (Jalynn), Mark Venis, Sally Ellis (Edward), Douglas Venis (Tina) and Cynthia Kennedy (Brian); his grandchildren, Nicholas Venis, Chelsee Venis, Nathaniel Ellis (Giselle), Jessie Ellis-Sullivan (Peter), Amanda Ellis, Joshua Kennedy, Chase Kennedy, Ashley Klein (Michael), Thomas Mann (Rachel Swope) and Christine Mann; his great grandchildren, Wilder Venis, Gideon Ellis, Isaac Ellis, Raelyn Swope and Landon Swope; his brothers, Lee Venis and Emery Venis; and his grandsons, William Richard Venis and Gregory Wendell Ellis. He is also survived by several cousins and a large number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Diabetes Association, or the Wood County Committee on Aging.
