He was predeceased by: his parents, John Newkirk and Mary Newkirk (Dillard); his wife Carolyn "Joyce" Newkirk (Smith); and his brother Roy Newkirk. He is survived by: his children, Don Newkirk (Kim) of Columbus, Indiana, Kim Newkirk of Peebles and Jenny Penrod (Matt) of Columbus, Indiana.. He is also survived by his five grandchildren.
