He was predeceased by: his parents, George Herbert and Flora Edwards (Shoemaker); his wife Betty Edwards (Pendell); and his sisters, Jeneveve Trout and Mary Lee McCoy.

He is survived by: his son Jerry Edwards (Jeanie) of Peebles; his grandchildren, Marla Sams and Trea Edwards; his great grandchildren, Rebekah Sams and Alexa Sams; his sister Martha Boyd of Dayton; and his great-niece Annabelle. He is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
