He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Grady Gehrling and Betty Short (Davis); his former wife Patricia Jewell Gehrling (Leach); and also, Joseph Eugene and Maude Elizabeth Laber.
He is survived by: his fiancé Kim Walls of Pedro; his children, Grady "Joe" Gehrling of Ashland, Stephanie Phipps (Brad) of Lucasville, Joshua Laber (Becky) of Wheelersburg and Brittaney Walls of Alpena, Michigan; his sister Mary Gehrling Terry (Steve) of Englewood, Florida; his grandchildren, Eoin, Draco, Skyler and Aeriaunna; his close friend Arlene Thibodaux; and his pet Piper.
