He was predeceased by: his parents, John Potter and Freda Potter (Hillman); his son Joseph Potter; and his brother John L. Potter Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Mary Hageman; his daughter Jessica Demaline (Eric) of Wauseon, OH; his grandson Parker Joseph Demaline; and his brother Curt Potter (Kaylie Loveless).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made to Heart Foundation, Diabetes Foundation or the Dog Shelter of Paulding.
