He was predeceased by: his parents, George W. Salyers and Madge Johnson Salyers; his son Bryan Edward Salyers; and his siblings, Vernol, Nigel, Agnes, Diane, Dwight and Bruce.
He is survived by: his wife Anna L. Sergent Salyers; his children, Kathryn Kreger (Michael) of Rainier, Drexel L. Salyers (Brittany) of Oak Hill, Mitchell D. Salyers (Stephanie) of Patriot, Mark A. Salyers (Cindi) of Patriot and Sherie L. Kapp (Robert) of Patriot; his daughter-in-law Valarie Salyers of Huntington; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Salyers of Xenia, Ohio and David Gullett of Cannonsburg, Kentucky. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
