He was predeceased by: his parents, Doffy Dotson and Mae Dotson (Starr) of Chattaroy; and his siblings, Ray Starr (Viola), Wendell Starr (Joyce), Ralph Dotson (Betty), Charles Roy Dotson (Maxine), Clifford Dotson (Lona), Larry Dotson (Sheila) and Alice Copley (LaVerne).

He is survived by: his children, Kelly Beyer (Doug), Ronnie Anthony Dotson, Samantha Otto, Shai King (Michael) and Edna Thompson (Mark); his grandchildren, Nathan, Brittney, Jimmy, Anthony, Amber, Abbie, Mercedes, Mason and Zachary; his great grandchildren, Angel, Payton, Austin, Harper, Liam, Layla, Noah, Maddox, Brantley and Shai; and his friends, Charles Henson (Dorothy) and Ronald Evans (Jean).
