He was predeceased by: his parents, Edith Ann (Bennett) and Jesse Edward Patterson; and his siblings, Thomas, Shirley and Rex.

He is survived by: his wife Traci Patterson; his children, Tori Stephens (Brandon) and Ryan Paul (Daniel); his granddaughter Mia Paul; his brothers, Dave Patterson (Jeong), Rick Patterson (Linda), Ben Patterson (Vicci) and Paul Patterson (Dana); and his sister-in-law Laurie Patterson.

In recognition of the care he received, donations may be made to the Alpha-1 Foundation, the National Organization of Rare Disorders, or Hospice of Central Ohio.
