He was predeceased by: his father James M. Gwin; his brother Anthony Gwin; and his stepsister Janel Bodi. He is survived by: his mother Carol S. Ringel (Nelson); his children, Lia, Austyn, Braedyn and Donavyn; his grandchildren, Corbin and Saylor; his brother Thomas Gwin; his stepsiblings, Kenneth Bodi and Beckie Bodi; and the mother of his children Casey Earl.
