He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Dorothy; his children, Lynn Altekruse (Jack), Fred (Terese), Ellen Kern (Ed) and Kurt (Lisa); his grandchildren, Victoria, Elizabeth, Nikki, Neil, Max, Mason and Mitchell; his great grandchild Duke; and his brother Alfred (Joan).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
