He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Schlegel and Ruth Schlegel (Snyder). He is survived by: his wife Edna; his sons, Matthew Schlegel (Kerstin) and Brent Schlegel; his grandson Patrick M. Sullivan; his stepchildren, Teresa Sullivan (Michael), Jeanette Stutesman, Carl Stutesman and Greg Stutesman; his grandchildren, Liam Schlegel, Vivian Schlegel, Nicholas Schlegel, Robert Schlegel and Emma Schlegel; and his friend Jason Lowe. He is also survived by seventeen other grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Caspar Catholic Church or to Disabled American Veterans in John's memory.
