William V Whipple Obituary
William Vernon Miles "Whip" Whipple was born September 16, 1953, to Harold "Corkey" Whipple and Adeline (Olmsted) Whipple at Lake East Hospital in Painesville, OH. He lived the majority of his life in Painesville. Bill Passed way at West Medical Center in Willoughby, on June 19th, 2023.
He attended St. Clair St. Kindergarten, and from grades 1-8 attended St. Mary Elementary School in Painesville. From there he attended St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, OH, and graduated in 1971. He went on to Garfield Senior College for men, which was part of Lake Erie College, for approximately three years. He majored in civil engineering.
For his life's work, Bill chose to go into the car industry for approximately 45 years. He, for the most part, was a service writer at the many dealerships where he worked in Lake County as well as Central Cadillac in Cleveland, OH. In 2019, he retired from Ken Ganley Village Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat in Painesville, OH.
In Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH, Bill and his family established Whips Magic Emporium in 1977 which they ran for approximately 41 years. They enjoyed going to the Woollybear Festival in Vermillion, OH, where they had a booth for many years. When the new owners took over the shop in 2018, they maintained Whips Magic Emporium.
Bill had varied interests. He enjoyed roller hockey, downhill skiing, pool, and of course, cars. He loved going to football and basketball games at St. Joe's. Going to Florida almost every year with his family for many years was another highlight of his life. Furthermore, he was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church in Painesville, OH, and participated in the church's activities. He was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 947 in Painesville, OH.
Throughout his life, he was known for his fairness and honesty. Whenever he could, he would help family and friends. He was dedicated and giving to his family and to his significant other Faye Johnson, who was the love of his life, and her family.
Bill is survived by his significant other, Faye Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold "Corkey Whipple and Adeline (Olmsted) Whipple, his sister Patricia "Patty" Whipple, and his brother Jonathan "Whip" Whipple.
We would like to thank the caregivers at Promedica/Legacy Health for their devotion and care given to Bill during his residence there.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Friday, June 23rd at St. Mary Catholic Church 242 North State St. Painesville. Friends may call from 4-7 PM Thursday, June 22nd at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery Painesville.
