He was predeceased by: his father Ronald Garner; and his granddaughter Hayden. He is survived by: his mother Barbara Abplanalp; his children, Melanie Coe, Dereck Garner (Megan) and Katherine Azzano (Ryan); his grandchildren, Pierce, Harrison, Courtney, Michaela and Alice Isabel; and his brothers, Robert and Rendell Garner. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
