It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elmer Alphonse Markward of Ottoville, Ohio, born in Delphos, Ohio, who passed away on April 4, 2024, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Markward and Christine Markward (Wiechart); and his siblings, Mary Ann Liebrecht (Claude), Mildred Wittler (Ralph) and Donald Markward (Isabelle).
He is survived by: his children, Margie Byrne (Terry) of Ottoville, Kenneth Markward (Carol) of Ottoville, Thomas Markward (Barb) of Ottoville, Nancy Byrne (Carl) of Ottoville, Jerry Markward (Lois) of Ottoville and Scott Markward (Sandy) of Ottoville. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and 6 step great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, St. Mary's Cemetery, Ottoville, Putnam County Homecare and Hospice or Ottoville VFW.
