With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Helen M. Gerding of Ottawa, Ohio, born in Lima, Ohio, who passed away on July 12, 2023 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Aloysius Siefker and Mary Siefker (Schroeder); her husband Joseph B. Gerding; her daughter Marilyn Burkhart; her grandson Craig Erhart; her siblings, Tom Siefker, Daniel Siefker, Carol Ellerbrock (Virgil) and James Siefker (Esther); and her brothers-in-law, Bernard Pohl, Larry Peck and Earl Kleman.
She is survived by: her children, Dennis Gerding (Shirley) of Columbus Grove, Allan Gerding (Mary Ann) of Ottawa, Julie Riepenhoff (Gilbert) of Ottawa, Susan Erhart (Rick) of Ottawa, Joann Gerding of Ottawa, David Gerding (Barbara) of Delphos and Jeanne Zeller (Gary) of Kalida; her son-in-law Richard Burkhart of Celina; her sisters, Eunice Pohl of Quincy, MI, Joan Peck of Kalida, Jane Kleman of Kalida and Marie Kuhlman (Ron) of Ottawa; and her sisters-in-law, Cathy Siefker of Ottawa, Marilyn Siefker of Kalida and Joan Siefker of Kalida. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
