He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert L., Sr. and Willa Mae DeShetler (Hutchinson); his son Gregory DeShetler; his grandson Matthew Byrd; and his brothers, Ronnie Hottman and Robert DeShetler.
He is survived by: his children, Steven Byrd (Rebecca), Kerri Whiteman (Jacob), Laura DeShetler and Michael DeShetler Jr.; his stepdaughter Reyna Hochron; his grandchildren, Josh Syzmanski (Leighann), Jacob Bilger, Elyza Byrd, Sophie O'Nail, Ava Hochron and Levi Hochron; his great grandchildren, Scout, Baya, Athena, Rowan and Calliope Syzmanski; his sister Beverly Nesbitt; his sister-in-law Ruthie DeShetler; and his close friends, Don Sayers, Bud and Eva Pratt. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Calendar Freck Funeral Chapel (1155 S Wynn Rd, Oregon, OH 43616). A masonic service was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the same location.
