He is survived by: his wife Joanne; his children, Mike Shanks (Kim), Karen Wojtaluk (Steve), Lori, Silkwood and Tim Shanks (Pam); and his grandchildren, Mickey Shanks (Stephanie), Andy Shanks, Lesley Jaskolski (Taylor), Kelly Ingle (Nick Marinski), Katie Ingle (Dave White), Tracy Sherman (Jason Gay), Josh Sherman (Malisa), Sarah Sherman (Corey Robinson), Samantha Sattler (Greg), Kimberly Graham (Brent) and Greg Shanks. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren.
