He is survived by: his wife Mary Smith; his children, Fred Smith Jr. (Donna) and Barbie Pelfrey; and his stepdaughters, Rachel Linkous (Greg) and Sarah Larson (Jason Smith). He is also survived by ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
