He was predeceased by: his parents, Christian Koch and Margaret Koch (Kandle); and his grandson William Christian Bell-Koch. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Koch; his sons, Timothy Koch, Allen Koch (Holly) and Stephen Koch; his grandchildren, Sam J. Bell-Koch, Adrienne L. Bell-Koch, Josephine Koch and Lucas F. C. Koch-Kreher; and his sisters, Lois Seigle and Alice Reed.
