He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Nichols and Myrtle Mets Nichols Rhurl; his stepfather Willard Rhurl; his grandson Tyler "Bubbie" Colton Nichols; and his brother Danny Nichols.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Nichols; his children, Scott Nichols (Vicki) and Tammy Nichols; his grandsons, Trevor Nichols (Irene), Travis Baker and Braden Nichols; and his close friend Richard Parsons (Dean).
