He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Swanson and Mary E. Speer Swanson; and his sister Judith Kirby. He is survived by: his wife Solange Ziegler; his sons, Jeff (Jennifer) of Olmsted Township and Erick (Georganna) of Cleveland; and his grandchildren, Madeline, Analise and Spencer Swanson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Richard's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
