With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rodney Jay Smith of Ohio City, Ohio, born in Van Wert, Ohio, who passed away on February 24, 2024 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh L. Smith and Grace Lenore Smith (Dibert); his brother Wallace D. Smith; and his sister-in-law Kathryn Hellwarth. He is survived by: his children, Jeffrey Smith (Kari) of Ohio City, Pamela Dull (Trevor) of Ohio City and Vicki Wardlow (Dan) of Pickerington, Ohio; his siblings-in-law, Kathryn Smith and Jerry Hellwarth; his grandchildren, Jacey Simpson (Ervin), Corrie Martindale (Travis), Nolan Smith, Mikinzie Black (Chase), Kaitlin Wilt (Brian), Kollan Dull, Alex Parks, Aliena Van Wey (Brandon), Abbie Caldwell and Alexandria Caldwell; and his great grandchildren, Rory Simpson, Huxley Simpson, Piper Van Wey and Kohen Wilt.

Preferred memorials are to the Ohio City Fire Department and EMS or the Ohio City Community Church of God.
