He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorin Briggs and Mable Briggs (Finney); his wife Margaret M. Knight; his brother Lorin Briggs; and his close friends, Marge Fought and Doris Ford.

He is survived by: his sons, Robert W. Briggs (Billie Dee) of Aurora, OH and Patrick A. Briggs of Oak Harbor, OH. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
