He was predeceased by: his parents, Ollie Kern and Pearl Kern (Perry); his granddaughter Adrienne Neff; his sister Dolores Apling; and his son-in-law Steve Riley.

He is survived by: his wife Violet J. Harder of Oak Harbor, OH; his daughters, Donna Neff (Jerry) of Oak Harbor, OH, Cynthia Riley of Oak Harbor, OH and Teresa Kern (Pat Schimming) of Martin, OH; his grandchildren, Derek, Rhiannon, Felisha, Amber and Ashley; his great grandchildren, Savannah, Gabriella, Archer and Gunner; and his sister Ethel Kern of Oak Harbor.

Memorial Contributions may be given to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church.
