He was predeceased by: his father Clarence Covert; his wife Sally Lezotte; his children, David Covert and Catherine Covert; and his siblings, Larry Covert, Sandra Elwing and Judith Hanus.

He is survived by: his brother James Covert. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Oak Harbor Athletic Boosters.
