He was predeceased by: his wife Virginia M. "Ginny"; and his sister Rosemary Osterman. He is survived by: his children, Donna Loos (late Tom), Tom (Cindy), Joe (Dee Dee), Jim (Priscilla), Steve, Dave Roettgers (Becky) and Susie Waters-Roettgers (Randy); and his siblings, Ann Brinkmeyer and Maddie Gerhard.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude's, Cincinnati Children's Hospital or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
