He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Smith and Verna Smith (Bick); his wife Lois Smith; and his siblings, Carleton Smith, Alvin Smith, Clifford Smith and Janet Groff.

He is survived by: his son Michael Smith (Kelly) of Norwalk; his grandchildren, Connor, Reanne Smith (Montgomery), Elizabeth Smith of Cleveland, Treg Smith and Danielle Smith of Norwalk; and his great grandchild Saige Smith.
