He was predeceased by: his parents, Clemence Fries and Alice Fries (Hohler); his siblings, Barbara Dick (Eugene), Bernard and Theodore Fries; his sister-in-law Janet Fries; his parents-in-law, Melvin and Betty Schafer; and his daughter-in-law Leya Fries.
He is survived by: his wife Karen (Schafer); his children, Tim Fries, Tammy Stang, Ted Fries, Betsy Ruggles (Marc), Bob Fries (Kristin) and Brian Fries (Ashley); his grandchildren, Amanda Hass (Aaron), Anthony Stang (Mandi), Allison Heitsche (Troy), Adam Stang, Airrin Carrabino (Jon), Spencer Fries, Amelia Ruggles, Nevan Ruggles, Anita Ruggles, Anessa Ruggles, Abecka Ruggles, Annaka Ruggles, Julia Fries, Owen Fries, Jack Fries, Luke Fries, Jacob Fries and Gracie Fries; his great grandchildren, Charley, Archie, Bowie, Matthew and Theodore; his brother Raymond Fries; and his brothers-in-law, Larry Schafer (Diane) and Tom Schafer (Janet).
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Karen Fries for the John Fries Endowment Fund that will be established in the near future.
