He was predeceased by: his parents, William J. and Lenora Smith Sr. (Lucas); his daughter Lora; his siblings, Lois Evans and William "Jack" Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Ellen Souslin, Mary Leber, Bob Berkey, Wendell Evans, Clarance and Junior Wiseman.
He is survived by: his wife Lucille Smith (Wiseman) of Norwalk; his children, Patricia A. Babcock (Michael), Donald R. Smith Jr. (Xingjie) and Janet Michel (Timothy); his grandchildren, Donald Smith, Emma Smith, Nicholas Smith, Andrew Babcock, Cameron Michel, Jude Michel and Peyton Michel; his great grandchildren, Nolan and River Smith; and his siblings, Mary Wiseman, Brenda Berkey, Harrison Smith and Michael Smith.
