He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Schaffer and Frances Schaffer (Hohler); his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Schaffer; his sons, Jim and Steve; his grandchildren, Shannon Schaffer and Angie Nida; and his siblings, Arnold, Pete, Fred, Joe, Leonard, Bernard, John, Mary Frances Marie, Ophelia, Margaret and Leonarda.
He is survived by: his children, Monica Schaffer, Mary Holland (Roddy), Alexis Moll (Darrell), Raymond and Brian. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
