It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard J. Merda of North Olmsted, Ohio, born in Cleveland, Ohio, who passed away on August 25, 2024, at the age of 69, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerry Merda and Stephanie Merda; his son Paul Vaitekunas; and his sister Christine Schimmer (Bill). He is survived by: his wife Kathy Merda; his children, Christine Sampat (Leon), Liz Powe (Ken), April Gasper (Adam) and Mike Merda (Emily); his grandchildren, Payton, Paige, Jackson, Emma, Henry and Eli; his siblings, Donna Nieder (Don), Jerry, Raymond, James and Kevin (Becky); and his mother-in-law Marilyn.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 3rd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sunset Memorial (6265 Columbia Rd, Olmsted Falls, OH 44070). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, September 4th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Clarence Church (30106 Lorain Rd, North Olmsted, OH 44070).
