He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Chaya and Mary Chaya; and his siblings, Stanley Chaya (Sharon) and Bernice Olle (Frank). He is survived by: his wife Virginia E. Chaya; his children, Barbara Chaya Leiher, Christopher Chaya, David Chaya (Renee) and Marie Sasak (Todd); his grandchildren, Kelly, Nicholas, Taryn, Amanda, Brian, Taylor and Danny; and his brother Nelson.
