He was predeceased by: his parents, W. Arnold Sauerwein and Christine Sauerwein (Kentzel); his wife Nancy L. Scattergood; his grandson Ryan Stansbury; his son-in-law Ed Ondrey; and his brothers, Glenn Sauerwein and Arden Sauerwein.
He is survived by: his children, John D. Sheldon (Cindy) of Leetonia, Jan L. Ondrey of North Lima, Larry J. Sauerwein of North Lima and Gary L. Sauerwein; his grandsons, Brandon Stansbury, William "Spike" Sauerwein (Chelsie) and Aaron Ondrey (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Faith, Grace, Jordan, Miles, Piper and Tessa; his siblings, Pete Sauerwein (Diane) of Salem and Wilma Arkwright (Junior) of Lisbon; and his sisters-in-law, Jeannie Sauerwein of Greenford and Jackie Sauerwein of Salem. He is also survived by his family and friends.
